CAPO FERRATO

This excursion proposes a pleasant, easy journey, ideally at sunrise,
to one of the most fascinating places of the Mediterranean.
A collection of rocks, vegetation, pastureland, beaches: this
is the coast of Capo Ferrato with its many-coloured cliffs, passing
from pinks to darker shades, betraying its volcanic origin.
Difficulty: journey without particular difficulties
Vertical drop: minimal
Time : 2 hours
Access by road: from the main Castiadas to Muravera
road, near the Maloccu locality, turn right as far as the Perda
SAcchilloni area. Here we leave the jeep to enter the Mediterranean
bush.
Journey Details: Having left the 4-by-4 we follow the path to
the lighthouse situated on the originally volcanic headland of
Capo Ferrato, typified by splendid basalt and granite architecture
and by its silent coves.
From the lighthouse area characterised by walls overhanging the
sea, we descend gently through the low-lying scrub, eventually
reaching Anfore Bay. Just north of here is Portu sIlixi,
a stupendous beach with a delightful cliff in the centre, transparent
water and magnificent coastline, surrounded by still to be discovered
countryside.
